About the Artist
A native Rhode Islander and life-long artist, Cate has been a pyrographer for more than 20 years, showing professionally since 2002. Her artwork has been displayed at the South County Arts Association and The Hope Gallery in Bristol, RI.

Cate's illustrations and frames are meticulously handmade. Each is one-of-a-kind.

Her husband Leon, a master craftsman, makes all the frames using a variety of premium hardwoods. Cate then hand-sands, stains and top coats each frame.

Their 1500 sq. ft. workshop
(shown lower right) is located in West Greenwich, Rhode Island
where she also works on remodeling design, furniture refinishing & other custom projects.

Cate began her career as an art and photography apprentice at Mark Three Studios in Providence, RI at the age of 16. She spent more than 30 years as a graphic artist, illustrator, photographer, photo retoucher and writer/researcher.

As a Marine Research Assistant, at the Narragansett Bay Campus - University of RI, Cate honed her pen and ink skills hand-illustrating maps of the ocean floor and scientific data, before there was any computer technology that could handle the task.

Past president of McCauley Coren Design Group, Inc., Cate worked with many corporate clients
such as the City of Warwick, The Providence Performing Arts Center & Swarovski. She also served as a Governor's appointee to the Providence-Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau on the Executive Board of Directors, and with the RI Tourism Advisory Council.

Besides creating and showing her woodburned illustrations, Cate is also a Designer-Project Manager for Liberty Remodeling Contractors, Inc. of North Scituate, RI.
