Furniture & Refinishing
Cate grew up around seamstresses. This influence developed into a love of working with fabrics. Combined with her love of woodworking, Cate has brought many fine pieces of old furniture back from the brink. Here are a few before & after examples
of her most-recent projects.

This pair of William & Mary-style chairs went to different homes. Above is the rocker. Below is the straight-leg.
Each was totally stripped to bare wood, revealing a nice maple. They were then given new 8-way-hand-tie springs. The back and side seams were hand-sewn. The straight-leg was reupholstered in a green herringbone chenille, while the rocker was given a beige tapestry.
These 100-year old Arts & Crafts-style dining chairs were cleaned, reglued, and refinished using tinted Danish oil. They were then given new padded leather seat cushions.
1940's rocking chair is a family heirloom that was totally stripped, reglued, and sprayed with new color plus bronze metallic hand-painted detailing.
New upholstered cushions and matching fringed pillow were also added.
